Mission, Vision and Objectives

The Association of Land Economy and Valuation Surveyors (ALEVS) came into being in 1974 and has been actively engaging professionals who are referred to as Estate Managers, Land Administrators, Land Economy Surveyors, Valuation Surveyors or General Practice Surveyors.

In alignment with its Mission (outlined below), the ALEVS was developed with the core objectives as follows:

​

  • To establish a high and reputable standard of professional conduct and practice among members;

  • To secure the advancement and facilitate the acquisition of that knowledge which constitutes the profession of a land economy and valuation surveyor;

  • To provide the opportunity for members to examine, discuss, comment on and make proposals relating to the profession and to land policy.

  • The classes of membership include professional, life, student, licentiate and honorary. All of the early members of ALEVS were trained in the United Kingdom. Initially the qualifications for professional membership were the holders of:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Estate Management or Land Administration or Bachelor of Arts in Land Economy or having passed the Final Examination of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors:

  • A degree or diploma in estate Management, Land Economy or Land Administration from a recognized university

  • Such other degree or diploma as may be recognized by the council

Mission

"To promote the development of a qualified and experienced cadre of professionals who practice with due regard to local and international standards of competence and ethics, so that the clients so served will benefit from the highest standard of professionalism and competence".

Vision

To establish and preserve international recognition and affiliations in order to advocate for the needs of local valuation professionals in an ever changing global real estate industry.
