A large segment of their membership in private practice are licensed in various areas with the Board inclusive of real estate Sales; Lease and Rentals; Appraisals; Auctioneering; and Property Management. Licenses are renewed on an annual basis and can be checked using the REB’s member search. Most of our private sector members hold licenses with the Board and the state of such licenses can be checked through their member search

The REALTORS® Association of Jamaica (RAJ) is a trade organization representing approximately 1,200 active real estate professionals and affiliate members. As real estate dealers and salesmen, many of our members also hold membership with the RAJ. Our members also work closely with RAJ members providing appraisals, management and auctioneering services on the private sector side and in the case public sector, our members may deal with statutorily required services or data provision.

The National Land Agency (NLA) is an Executive Agency that falls under the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation. As the largest single employer of our members, the ALEVS and the NLA have had a long and valued relationship. Our members can be found primarily in the Valuation Division and the Estates Division managing the valuation roll and crown lands respectively.

The Land Surveyors Association of Jamaica (LSAJ) was established in 1928 and is comprised of Commissioned Land Surveyors. As fellow building professionals, we often work in tandem with land surveyors on various projects. Most popularly however is where both a valuation report and surveyor’s id report is requested by a mortgage lender. The former is provided by our members while the latter, is requested from a land surveyor.

Construction Industry Council

The Construction Industry Council serves as the umbrella organization for the building and construction sector. It is comprised of architects, quantity surveyors, engineers, master builders, land surveyors and valuation surveyors. The various leadership positions are rotated amongst the professional organisations. Currently 3 members of the ALEVS sit on Council.

The Faculty of the Built Environment houses the B.Sc. in Real Estate Management and Valuations and its academic division. Formerly the B.Sc. Land Economy and Valuation Surveying, it grew out of the original Diploma in Land Economy and Valuation Surveying. Our locally trained members would have completed one of the above programs at the University. Today, our members serve as full time faculty, part time faculty, internship supervisors and research supervisors for the students in the program. Mentorship relationships have also been forged informally with students over the years, a phenomenon we hope to formalize into a structured program as soon as possible.
