President's Message

It is with great honour and humility that I assume the esteemed role of ALEVS President for the year 2024/ 2025. Having been introduced to the Association during my undergraduate studies, for me, ALEVS represents the innovation of questioning minds; the opportunity for technical and intellectual discourse; a conduit for mentorship and philanthropy; and, an avenue for self-actualization and professional advancement. It is this rich potential and legacy that I hope to harness working alongside this year’s team of exceptional professionals.
With much uncertainty surrounding major changes in the business environment and real estate industry and the increased threat of climate related hazards, we will be best prepared through intentional and collaborative efforts. We are stronger together and each of us brings something unique to the table and to the profession. It is against this background that I hope to strengthen our administrative and collaborative systems; focus on sustainable growth and development of the Association and our individual members; and, improve connections to the new generation of valuers and the wider public.
This year ALEVS celebrates its 50th Anniversary, an accomplishment which is no mean feat. In reflecting on the past, experiencing the present and imagineering the future, we have adapted last’s year’s Awareness Month’s theme to reinforce our commitment to a holistic pursuit of a sustainable future. This year we speak as a true 50-year-old, in the prime of life; having learned from experiences and gained the sobriety of maturity and now standing at the helm of their next best years.
We are “ALEVS at 50: Holistic, Sustainable and Thriving”. Get ready for a year of holistic experiences, sustainable strategies and a thriving life.
We have an exciting year ahead and need your full support for its success! The team is rearing to go and there are myriad opportunities for your involvement so please volunteer where you have a passion, interest and/or strength.
ALEVS at 50? Come along for the ride!
Dr. Rochelle Channer Miller, President
