Dr. Rochelle Channer Miller

Rochelle Channer Miller completed her B.Sc. in Land Economy and Valuation Surveying with Honours at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Ja.) in 2011 and later, a M.Sc. in Real Estate and Property Management at the University of Salford (2015). She has spent the last 12 years as a lecturer at UTech, Ja., and is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Real Estate and Planning Division. Her teaching specializations include real estate valuation, planning and economic development and asset management. She is also a licensed Real Estate Dealer, with the Real Estate Board of Jamaica and specializes in Valuations and Property Management. Her experience in both academia and practice in Jamaica inspired her to pursue a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning at the Florida State University (FSU) focusing on housing in Jamaica.

 

Rochelle is a Fulbright scholar; FSU Fellow, Margaret McNamara Education Grant (MMEG) grantee and Women in Research Rising Scholars Grantee. Her research is action-oriented, and evidence-based, towards the end goal of nonprofit Supportive Housing Services across Jamaica. She is also focused on strengthening the real estate and valuation curriculum at UTech, Jamaica to prepare students in Jamaica (and the Caribbean) for the local realities and global possibilities of real estate practice. Rochelle has served in various capacities on the ALEVS Council such as Council Member (2017- 2019), Secretary (2022-2023) and Vice President (2023- 2024). She intends to use her platform as President to promote holistic and sustainable personal and career development for the Association and its members.
