On December 12, 2024, the Association of Land Economy and Valuation Surveyors (ALEVS) successfully hosted its grand 50th Anniversary Dinner and Awards Ceremony. With approximately 60 attendees in the room, the evening was filled with good food, good company, and an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Pictures can be viewed


Reminiscing on a Legacy

The event provided a golden opportunity for foundational members to reflect on the early days of their careers. Their insightful stories captivated mid-career professionals, early-career attendees, and students, who eagerly took notes, absorbing invaluable lessons for their own journeys ahead. The intergenerational exchange of wisdom was one of the evening’s highlights, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to mentorship and professional development.


Laughter, Technology, and an Inspiring Message

Dressed in their finest attire, attendees embraced the 360 photo booth, capturing unforgettable moments and sharing laughter with colleagues. The energy in the room was palpable, with attendees fully engaged in the festivities.

Guest speaker Professor Floyd Morris delivered an inspiring address, encouraging attendees to embrace technology. Demonstrating cutting-edge innovations that enable him to experience the ambiance and vibe of any space despite his sight limitations, Professor Morris left the audience in awe of the possibilities that technology can bring to the field.


Honoring a Legacy: The Founding Fathers and Awardees

A key highlight of the evening was the recognition of ALEVS’ Founding Fathers, whose dedication and leadership have been instrumental in shaping the organization. The Honoring Our Founding Fathers initiative, initiated by Past President Ryan Taylor and executed by Immediate Past President Jermaine Williamson, took center stage as special tribute was paid to:

  • Mr. Lloyd Davis

  • Mr. Carl Francis

  • Mr. Ransford Wedderburn

  • Mr. Kenneth Allison


Their enduring contributions to the profession were acknowledged with heartfelt appreciation and admiration.

In addition to honoring the Founding Fathers, ALEVS proudly presented the prestigious President’s Awards to distinguished members who have demonstrated exemplary service and commitment:

  • Easton Douglas

  • Rysan Taylor

  • Clinton Cunningham

  • Cadien Stuart


Distinguished Guests and Industry Representation

The celebration was further enriched by the presence of esteemed representatives from key industry bodies, including:

  • The Real Estate Board

  • The National Housing Trust

  • The Land Surveyors Association of Jamaica

  • University of Technology, Jamaica

Their participation underscored the strong professional ties and collaborative efforts within the real estate and land valuation sectors.

Master of Ceremonies Jevon Reid infused the evening with energy and enthusiasm, urging attendees to embody the event’s theme: Holistic, Sustainable, and Thriving. This theme reflects the guiding principles that ALEVS upholds as it continues to evolve and pave the way for the future of the profession.
